![]() ![]() would you rather have a supermedic chariot, a unit with 10-tile sight distance, or a scout who could go anywhere and use enemy roads without risking being caught like a spy would. In Civ 4 they could be great-general-only promos and that might make for some interesting decisions.e.g. As Rusty Edge said something like circumnavigation maybe, or being involved in 100 battles or something. The trouble is finding something sufficiently difficult for the scouts to do in order to earn those promotions - it can't be actual fighting like with other units obviously. extra sight distance, sight ignoring terrain, scouting foreign lands without open borders, perhaps even increasing the damage done by units in their stack (e.g. scout promos, I always thought scouts' role on the battlefield should be increased to add realism. ![]() ![]() You could even just put him on auto-explore, and where's the skill in that?! on pangaea every civ would have a scout of exactly the same experience just through the micro effort of marching him around the whole map.
